    Zvono Award 2024

After a detailed review and analysis of all submitted applications, the jury consisting of Adla Isanović (New Media Professor, Sarajevo), Zlatan Vehabović (Artist, Zagreb), and Nick Tobier (Artist, Detroit) convened at KRAK on Saturday, 11 May 2024, to select four finalists: Kemil Bekteši, Vildana Hermann, Milena Jandrić, and Saša Tatić. By unanimous decision, Kemil Bekteši was chosen as the recipient of the Zvono Award for 2024. The jury noted that "Kemil Bekteši presented an artistic practice that skillfully articulates issues of national identity and demonstrates a commitment to long-term processes, from body performance to sculpture." As a younger generation artist, Kemil has consistently shown focus and the ability to explore central themes across various media and physical spaces. "Through his work, Bekteši demonstrates an intimate and personal expression that questions his own transient experience and interpersonal relationships in 'dialogue' with his father and 'heritage.' His unique approach stimulates broader reflections on individual and collective identities, as well as the intersections of interpersonal, geopolitical, cultural, and economic relationships in the contemporary context."

KRAK aims to serve once again as a space for cultural dialogue, where artistic discussions are generated and developed. In addition to the exhibition planned for the autumn of 2024, curated by Isidora Branković (Banja Luka), the goal is to stimulate a discourse on the importance and significance of the Zvono Award in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through discussions that arise from generational shifts on one hand and the principles that the Zvono Award stands for on the other, KRAK seeks to maintain the vitality of artistic exchange and its inherent qualities within the contemporary context.
