Revizor Scholarship 2023
KRAK Center is pleased to announce that the Revizor Scholarship for 2023 has been awarded to the Sarajevo Manifesto Gallery of Contemporary Art. It is the result of nomination and selection of the Revizor Foundation and KRAK Center, where Manifesto has been recognized as the most significant initiative in the field of curatorial practice and mediation of artistic content in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2022. In a short period of time, Manifesto managed to do the impossible – to find premises in the center of Sarajevo, to restore it to its full capacity, and to start an art program.
Adna Muslija, Ajla Salkić and Benjamin Čengić, the Manifesto team, are the embodiment of the new generation practitioners who consciously use the tools and strategies of inventive organization and proactive action. Their result, visible and materialized in the Manifesto Gallery, is a reminder that with persistent and focused work it is possible to make changes and reshape life and professional reality into a new one. Manifesto is the result of persistence, commitment and focus, the idea of which ultimately affirms the practice of participation in the social community, with the belief that it is possible to "start a small cultural revolution" in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Located in the strict center of the city, it is a space "where the community will use art to tackle social and political problems" – as stated in their mission statement.
The fact that this year's Scholarship is awarded to a group and not to an individual, as it has been the custom until now, also indicates the importance of joint action, i.e., group organization and the diverse dynamics that result from it. KRAK wants to believe that with the birth of Manifesto Gallery, not just another cultural and artistic initiative was born, but also a political one, which has the potential to change its immediate environment, shape it and influence it, while respecting man and his social needs.
Gallery Manifesto’s team are: curator Adna Muslija, marketing designer Ajla Salkić, and director Benjamin Čengić. Their formal competencies include cultural management, artistic production, research, education and design. They completed their undergraduate studies between 2017 and 2019, which certainly makes them the practitioners of the new generation.
Revizor Scholarship for 2023 amounts to 6,000 KM, and has been made possible thanks to private donations and Bosnienfreunde Hamm organization.
