Taxi Consilium
Center for Contemporary Culture KRAK (Hamze Hume bb, Bihać)
Concert: Wednesday, 20 November 2024 at 21:00
Taxi Consilium is an avant-garde jazz group from Macedonia, consisting of Dragan Teodosiev (drums), Filip Bukrshliev (guitar), Blagojche Tomevski (clarinet), and Andrea Mircheska (double bass). Their style is based on a free-form approach, boldly combining ambient cinematics with intimate reverie. The soundscapes they create span a broad, picturesque range, emanating a significant degree of introversion and introspection. The band is known for its distinct dark jazz sound, blending experimental and traditional elements. Strong textures and solid compositional structures are shaped by the talent of exceptional musicians, producing an intense atmosphere and a rich sound. In their often ten-minute (or longer) compositions, Taxi Consilium stretches the listener’s attention, dramatizing the tension between relaxation and suspense.
The band's live performances radiate skill and reflect the moods of its members, leading to an atmospheric quality and often whimsical interpretations of layered combinations through a charming groove. Unconventional structures become intense and instrumentally profound. The use of vocals, not as descriptive but as an element of irony, enhances the expressiveness of their performances.
Taxi Consilium has released several albums, including The Essential Sunday Gloom (PMGJazz, 2021) and Spiritual Car Wash (PMGJazz, 2022), which have drawn attention on both the regional and international scene for their inventive and often boundary-pushing compositions. They can rightfully be called one of Macedonia's finest jazz exports, with each member contributing their improvisational spirit toward the formation of an outstanding jazz synthesis.
The concert of Taxi Consilium at KRAK is supported by the Robert Bosch Foundation.
