    RZWD

KRAK Center for Contemporary Culture (Hamze Hume bb, Bihać)
Concert: Sunday, 25 May 2025, at 21 pm

RZWD is a Polish electro-acoustic quartet consisting of Szymon Szwarc (guitar), Damian Kowalski (drums), Cezary Rosiński (synthesizer), and Krzysztof Rogalski (bass guitar). Due to their extensive network of acoustic and electronic instruments, categorizing them within a specific genre is difficult. Their music features a multitude of layers rooted in often distinct expressive logics, such as noise-rock, dub, dance-pop, and electronics. The overlapping of these elements results in inventive compositional solutions and progressive expression. The impression of sonic recycling, accompanied by trans-motifs and diverse sound interventions, is defined by the juxtaposition of traditional rock elements with other genre narratives. RZWD employs monotonous ambient sequences, syncopations, synthetic percussion, and, across the diverse landscape of contemporary music, creates a unique form of electronic sound experimentation.

Due to their metrical and melodic fragmentation, their style has been described by critics as "a second kind of rock" that is "in a good way strange, warm, inviting, and fluid" (organthing.net). Although their production is marked by a digital character and its multiplicative logics, their sound is organic and, in structure, appears analog.

The name RZWD is a selection of consonants from the Polish word rozwód (Bosnian: "razvod"). Its deliberately cumbersome pronunciation alludes to the type of music they play and the way they perform it.

To date, RZWD has released three albums: Pompy (Fonoradar Records, 2020), Gold (Fonoradar Records, 2022), and Gaps (Gusstaff Records, Carton Records & Moniker Eggplant, 2024). They have performed at clubs and festivals in Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.

RZWD's performance at the KRAK Center is organized with the support of the Robert Bosch Foundation.
